The 9th Annual Filmed by Bike is a film festival filled entirely with bike-themed movies from around the world. The festival takes place at the Clinton Street Theater, 2516 SE Clinton Street, April 15-17, 2011. Love is born, races are completed and stories of two-wheeled adventures cycle across the silver screen in eight minutes or less, the festival’s time limit for each film.
The opening night is Friday, April 15 and features the New Belgium Street Party, a Speed Raffle presented by Sock Dreams with over $2,000 in prizes, a beer garden directly in the middle of Clinton Street, DJ beyondadoubt, dancers, entertainers and more. The Street Party is free and 21+. Movies on opening night are $8.

FILM FESTIVAL CELEBRATES BICYCLE CULTURE
Portland, OR — The 9th Annual Filmed by Bike is a film festival filled entirely with bike-themed movies from around the world. The festival takes place at the Clinton Street Theater, 2516 SE Clinton Street, on April 15-17, 2011. Love is born, races are completed and stories of two-wheeled adventures cycle across the silver screen in eight minutes or less, the festival’s time limit for each film.
The opening night is Friday, April 15 and features the New Belgium Street Party, a Speed Raffle presented by Sock Dreams (10 prizes valued at $50-250 each are given away in a mere 12 minutes), entertainment and DJ beyondadoubt, generous bike parking and a beer garden directly in the middle of Clinton Street.
The top film will be awarded the Golden Helmet Award, presented by Nutcase Helmets with a $250 cash prize. Two runners up will receive gift packs from Nutcase Helmets and Filmed by Bike.

Cost: $8 for one tickets, $25 for an unlimited entry Festival Pass (includes a free DVD)
Age restrictions: Friday night is 21+, the 5:00 showings are all ages.

FESTIVAL BACKGROUND
* Filmed by Bike was started in 2003.
* 45% of the submissions come form Portland, the rest come from around the world.
* The festival features an array of film genres including documentary, animation, drama and comedy.
* The festival only happens in Portland, Oregon though submissions come from around the world.
* Festival attendees come from all over the region, including Seattle. In 2008, Amtrak reportedly sold out of space for bicycles on the Cascades line because of the number of people traveling from Seattle to the festival.
