ABOUT THE CALL FOR ENTRIES
Deadline: 1/20/2011
It’s free to enter. Selected films will be screened at the festival in Portland, Oregon. Submissions should be 8 minutes or less but, new this year, we are accepting a limited number of movies that are no longer than a half hour. If you think your piece has what it takes to make it past our Tough Ass Jury, send it on in! Preferred screen ratio is 16:9.
Selections are made by our esteemed jury who spend countless hours previewing bike-themed submission.
HOW TO ENTER
- Complete a submission form – click here to download the form
- Send your movie on DVD with the submission form
- Be prepared to create a miniDV version if your film is selected. (don’t let that technical details stop you – more info here. )
- You may also send a miniDV with your DVD submission.
- Screen ratio is 16:9
SUBMISSION DETAILS
…submission format: DVD, CD – no links, cannot submit on miniDV only
…final format: miniDV
If your movie is chosen, you will need to submit the final version on miniDV and you will be given several weeks to submit it. You may also include a miniDV version with your initial submission, which is what we recommend. Confused? Read this.
…length: 8 minutes or under
…aspect ratio: 16:9. That means your movies going to look great at 16:9 and only okay at anything else.

..music details: You can have whatever soundtrack you want, but you are only eligible for the GoIndependent! Award if you have the right to use the music in your movie.
TIPS
- Edit
- Usually shorter is better, we like shorties
- Uh, no, you don’t have to ride your bike while you film
- Remember you have an international audience
- BMX, fixie and other trick videos generally don’t win the hearts of our jury
- Check out our GoIndependent! contest and use independent music.
- Tightly edited pieces have a much better chance of being accepted.
