We’re looking for a kick ass person to join our team to assist with fall promotions for the Filmed by Bike 2011 festival call for movie entries. This is an excellent opportunity for on-the-job learning under the tutelage of a very organized team spearheaded by two people with extensive expertise in event organization and marketing. One of our former interns is entering his third year assisting the festival with high-level projects and we have an extremely dedicated volunteer crew.

The festival grows every year with the assistance of our interns and staff who conduct extensive outreach to filmmakers around the world.

Summertime! What a great time to be out shooting your next bike movie for Filmed by Bike. Deadline for entries is 1/20/2011. Sure, you’ve got plenty of time to get that piece together, but nothing ruins a shooting session more than a downpour of rain, something not likely to happen at this time of year (depending on where you live).

So grab your camera and head on out to document your fun summertime adventures or put to work on earnest shooting effort that will afford you plenty of time to edit down your awesome piece for next year’s festival.

First off, congratulations to the Felt cruiser winner, Elaine from Vancouver, B.C.! Now she gets to ride it all the way back to Canada (or take it on the train).

Congrats also to Robin Moore for winning the Golden Helmet Award for his film Performance (Program 1) and Lars C. Larsen for winning the GoIndependent! Award for his film Go! Paperboy! (Program 1).

DJ Anjali + Incredible Kid go on at 8pm and it’s free to come see them at the New Belgium Opening Night Street Party. We’ll have tons of other entertainers, DJs and cool displays of wild abandon.

• Tickets will be for sale in the beer garden on Opening Night

• Speed Raffle tickets that do not win a prize will be entered into the cruiser raffle

• The winning ticket will be drawn and announced on our website Saturday, April 17th. A new ticket will be drawn and announced every day until there is a winner.

Tip #1: Get your tickets in advance. That way you’ll be all set to come hang out, without the hassle of waiting in the ticketing line. There may be a modest line to get into the theater, but once the doors open that line will move lightning quick.

Tip #2: Go to the 11pm screening. You don’t want to miss any of the action at the Street Party, so wait until it’s over to go in and see the movies.

Tip #3: Bring your dollars! Even if you’re not going inside, you can still buy raffle tickets for the super cool Felt cruiser from New Belgium. Roll into summer in retro style!

Tip #4: CASH ONLY! Bring your dollars.

FRIDAY: Come to the New Belgium Opening Night Street Party and head inside for the movies if you’re so inclined. Bring your friends and great ready for an incredible FREE party in the street with DJ Anjali + Incredible Kid plus other outstanding entertainment.

SATURDAY: Relax and recover or head to one of the screenings. We suggest you make it to the 7pm for the Golden Helmet Award Presentation with Nutcase Helmets.

SUNDAY: Catch some early evening movies with filmmaker Q+As at the 5pm screenings, or catch the later night screenings to round out your weekend.

The filmmaker Q+As are a chance to learn more about the making of the movies, and the filmmakers who made them possible. Webster Crowell, an animator from Seattle, will be down to talk about his phenomenally produced piece Parasol.
