Celebrating 15 Years of Bike Movies
Filmed by Bike is now in its 15 year and we’ve seen some incredible changes in the landscape of bike movies. The early days were filled with bling pieces like fixed gear bikes doing city trick riding, mt. bike trail videos and plenty of hilarious spoof rap videos. And while we can appreciate those pieces when they’re well done, we’re so excited to be seeing a new trend in bike movies: stories with heart, being told by the people who are a part of those stories.
Films Manager Guthrie Straw spends half the year seeking out the world’s best bike movies. His goal this year was to bring to the screen more movies about people who don’t live in capitalist or developed nations. Guthrie also sought out films by women and films that featured strong women.
Also featured in the Q+A is Festival Director Ayleen Crotty.
